After having been guest editor of the July 2020 issue of Riffs, the journal of experimental writing on popular music, Edmund Hunt has been invited back for the December 2020 issue. In his editorial Edmund reflects on our ambivalence towards technology, especially at a time when we are all so dependent from it.

The words of Christina Kubisch, the prompt for both issues of Riffs Volume 4, acquire a different poignancy in the middle of a pandemic:

’Technology is something I love and hate at the same time. One one hand the absence of any kind of technology means silence (or an environment of natural sounds which we hear much clearer because of the general silence); on the other hand, you need technology to make art’.
